LIGHTING OF ADVENT CANDLE - Evian McClendon Family
First Reader: In the midst of our waiting and longing for God to make the world right again, we
cling to the truth that God has saved, God is saving, and God will save. So today, we join our
voices with the prophet Isaiah, who calls us to live in the joy of the truth of God’s salvation.
All: We choose to believe that the day is coming when “the ransomed of the LORD shall
return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall
obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35:10).
Second Reader: We light this candle of joy as a sign of the Truth that sets us free to live in joy
as we wait and work for the day when all creation will flourish together.
Light the first, second, and third candles (two purple, one pink) of the Advent wreath.

Join us for our Christmas Party on Sunday, December 14th after worship service.
The Nurture and Outreach committee will make sandwiches for Lady T's Homeless Ministry on December 17th at 11:00 a.m.
This holiday season, we are asking you to fill our church with the beauty and joy of red poinsettia flowers. The flowers that you purchase and bring should be placed along the altar rails. Each poinsettia can be donated in honor or memory of someone special in your life, or in celebration of a special event. Your poinsettia placed at the altar will not only add festive warmth but will also be a meaningful tribute to loved ones. Please put the name of your loved one on the sheet in the narthex and they will be honored during service.
On Friday, December 19, there will be Christmas Caroling on the corner. The Choir Ministry will lead us in praising God with songs of good cheer. We will gather at 6:30 pm on the front steps of the church.
Please stop by the narthex and pick up your Advent Devotional.
